HOCKLEY, TEXAS

Imagine living in a world where “every child has a place to grow up and a sense of being home.” This is the vision of Boys & Girls Country: A Home For At-Risk Children in Hockley, Texas.

If you are interested in making a donation toward "The Wesley Cottage" at BGC, follow the link below. All donations will go to build a new, modern, and very functional home that will provide reliable housing for local children in crisis well into the future. Help us reach our goal of $500,000 by networking with others that you may know who would be interested, or other local Methodist churches and small groups.

Offering Hope to Those In Our Community Experiencing Homelessness

Hope Center in Northwest Houston not only offers hope, but also a delicious hot breakfast, lunch, showers, laundry, clothing, social services, mentoring, prayer, and more.

Here’s how you can help:
  • Prayer for our unhoused neighbors & the staff of Hope
  • Participate in the Second Friday Worship Service hosted by Faith UMC at 11 am as a greeter, or worship leader.

Next Date To Be Determined (Multiple Times Available)

Faith has partnered up with Montgomery Food Bank and reserved a day for us to come out and help. Each individual wanting to volunteer MUST sign up online, including parents and children. Volunteers must be at least 7 years old. For more information please call the church office.

Sager Brown (UMCOR) is a supply depot in Baldwin, Louisiana that helps to distribute relief supplies throughout our nation and our world at times of need. Each year, a team from Faith UMC spends a week in organizing relief supplies and putting together kits to be shipped out. At the present time, another depot is being built in Conroe, Texas that we look forward to assisting upon it's completion.

Additionally each year, we have other mission opportunities that our children, youth, and adults participate in including UM ARMY.

Zoe helps orphans and vulnerable children to be secure, healthy, connected and prepared. Zoe is committed to "helping children help themselves" by empowering and enabling them to have skills so that they move from poverty to productivity. Learn more about Zoe here: Zoe Helps.

Serve at Faith

Play your Part

We believe God calls each of us to play our part in the body of Christ. Whether you're reading Scripture, lighting candles, serving in the youth ministry, or cooking dinner, there's a place for you to serve.

Would you like to read Scripture during worship or help serve Holy Communion? Our Worship Team is made up of youth and adults who feel called to lead and serve during our services throughout the year.

We welcome new team members at any time - and teens are especially encouraged to get involved!

Here’s How to Join

Email Judy Barbour and let her know:

  • Which service you prefer: 9 AM (Traditional) or 11 AM (Contemporary)
  • Whether you’d like to read Scripture, serve Communion, or both

Judy coordinates the schedule and will notify you of your assigned date.

If you’ve got a warm smile and a willing heart, this might be the spot for you! Ushers and greeters are the first friendly faces people see on Sunday mornings—and they help worship flow smoothly from start to finish.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Greeting and handing out bulletins
  • Collecting the offering and returning offertory bowls to the altar
  • Ensuring attendance books are placed out, checked, and collected
  • Lighting and extinguishing candles (at 11 AM)
  • Assisting with Communion on the first Sunday of the month

Want to help? Reach out to Cathy Burnett to be added to the usher and greeter team.

Do you enjoy serving behind the scenes? We have fast growing needs for a full encompassing Media Ministry. This ministry team is committed to the enhancement of the overall worship experience. Our Faith community is growing and providing increasing needs on the demands of our media team. If you have experience with sound, mixing or recording, or computer programs such as power point, video filming and editing, the media team is the perfect opportunity for you to share your skills and talents. Training will be provided if this is a ministry you would like to be a part of. No experience necessary. Contact Michell Yarbrough via button below.

Acolytes play a special role in worship: they bring the light of Christ into the sanctuary at the beginning of the service and carry it out into the world at the end. It’s a beautiful, symbolic way to participate in leading worship.

Interested in serving as an acolyte? Email Dorothy Peterson to learn more and get involved.

We are always looking for those willing to serve to welcome guests, replenish and help with our coffee and snack bar and more!

Be a Difference-Maker: Volunteer with Our Kids & Students

Ready to put your faith into action (and maybe earn some cool points while you’re at it)? We’re looking for big-hearted folks to pour into the next generation—and you don’t need to be a Bible scholar or a Pinterest-perfect planner to do it.

Just one evening of your time can spark something lasting in a child’s faith journey. Whether you’re teaching a lesson, playing games, or just showing up with a smile, you’re helping our students know they are seen, loved, and supported.

Lessons? Covered. Materials? Ready to go. Impact? Immeasurable.

Already thinking “I’m in!”? Great! All volunteers must be Safe Sanctuary certified through Debbie Shaw before serving.

Got questions or want to sign up? Reach out to Debbie Shaw, Executive Director  of Family Ministries —she’ll help you get started!

Let’s do this—because faith isn’t just taught, it’s lived.
